We all know that being on social media is a great way to get your brand out and attract new readers and clients. As it turns out Western Australia's know it best.
The recently released 2018 Yellow Social Media Report provides a treasure trove of facts a figures about social media use in Australia, like 56% of WA small-medium business have an online presence, up from just 14% in 2011.
So it probably doesn't surprise you that more than a third of people now access their social media more than 5 times a day! We all have that one friend (or brother-in-law-that spends 90% of their day attached to their phone!)
Facebook is still the most popular platform, with Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and LinkedIn coming in second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Pretty much everyone aged 18-29 is on social media (99%), while less than half of those aged 65+ are on social media (47%). Among 18-29 year olds social media is often the first and last thing they do every day, with eight in 10 (79%) accessing social media first thing in the morning and almost two thirds (65%) last thing before they go to bed.
But what does this mean for business?
It means that social media is still an effective way for you to get content to your audience, it just means you need to fight a little harder to make it through all the noise.
You need to make sure you're targeting the right audience with a clear and consistent message. Its super important to define your goals and pick the right platform for your business needs.
